Why would anyone compare Kate, Will's fiance, with Diana, Will's father's ex-wife and his own mother?
No one is trying to say he is marrying his mother.
It seems in very poor taste to draw a comparison like this...one's fiance and one's parent.
Other royal comparisons exist.
But they really don't hold up over time. Diana was no Helen Mirren.
There will always be Diana-lovers, Diana-haters, and for Kate, once wedding bells toll, popularity will start to swing as widely as the ringing church bells.
So yes, you can compare, but that was long, long ago. The Royals will always be subjected to loads of media scrutiny and become the most photographed people on Earth after Brangelina.
Why not let the comparisons lie, and move on?

The Ring
The is no getting around it ... the Ring is a central player of the Royal Engagement.
And while Kate is entirely different sort of princess...the Ring carries on.
An inspiration to many...
Of course a common family tradition is to pass on the ring or rings to the younger up and coming generation.
Due to the previous divorce the Ring was most likely safely locked up in the castle until another princess came along.
The Ring itself, with 18 carat sapphire, is stunning beyond words on many levels for many reasons.

It's Kind of Sweet...No Real "Skeletons" In The Closet: Just Lovely Trivia
As the Royal Engaged Couple finishes up their tour of the Commonwealth, D.A.F.T. wants to take a moment and really scrutinize who are Will and Kate: what do we know about them?
As it turns out, there is really nothing *to* know. They are simply nice people who have done well for themselves, and done well by others.
Digging deeply for interesting trivia about them...well, there is none. Will is a decent chap and Kate was lucky in life, well brought up and went along with the plan.
Finally, here are some little bits that D.A.F.T. scooped from the Internet...and the good news is, Yes, they are Royal, but heck, they are just like us!

- The UK media loves to call Kate a commoner. On that note, she was a Brownie, her parents run a party paraphernalia company, and her mother may or may not have been caught chewing gum in public.
- You, too, can wear the cheap version of Kate's engagement announcement dress! Proposal comes separately.
- Prince William, also a search and rescue pilot, and a HERO, saved the life of a man suffering chest pains while stuck on a mountain in stormy weather just 48 hours after his engagement was announced.
- The two have already been living together in Wales -- presumably, in sin -- for 8 months. And, in fact, they lived together while at University.
- Kate is 6 months older than Prince William. Cougar. And, at 28, "one of the oldest royal brides." More importantly, she can drink Prince William "under the table." Cheers.
Have You Shopped for The Wedding China?
A few months back a Royal Wedding China gained...well, Royal Approval and was put up for sale. In all the early excitement of the engagement you may have missed this key event. Here is a look at this lovely memorabilia.
"The tankard, plate and pill box have been exclusively designed for the Royal Collection and approved by His Royal Highness Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton.
The couple made their first public appearance on Sunday since the engagement announcement
"Each English fine bone china piece bears the couple's entwined initials in gold and silver surmounted by Prince William's coronet and the wedding date.

D.A.F.T. Wonders How Eco-Friendly The Wedding Will Be?
In this age of reduce-reuse-recycle, D.A.F.T. wonders how eco-friendly the Royal Wedding will be?
Kate accepted an engagement ring that was worn by Diana, yet that is often a lovely family tradition. What about the wedding itself?
Weddings of this magnitude generate an enormous amount of "stuff", which creates income for a vast array of providers. Will they reuse? will they recycle? What will Kate really want on her special day?
D.A.F.T. will be following the topic of eco-friendly weddings closely and share any good news.
